A representative system design for a typical high fidelity FAA Level D aircraft training device is illustrated. The system design has several innovative features which provide a cost effective design.

Trainers provide a full simulation of the cockpit flight hardware devices (controls, instruments, panels, indicators, avionics, and wiring harness) as defined in the aircraft Technical Manual or equivalent. The cockpit flight hardware could be a combination of simulations and stimulations of actual flight hardware. The simulations must match the form, fit, and function to the air crew.

The major system features for a trainer are:

• Replication of the cockpit with its associated indicators, controls, panels, and other necessary physical components.
• Host computer suite utilizing a real time computer.
• Hardware In The Loop (HIL).
• A real-time input/output system.
• Digital Control Loading System.
• Motion system (6 Degrees of Freedom).
• Instructor Operator Station (IOS).
• Visual System Image Generator.
• Aural Cue / Communication / Intercom / Navigation System (ACCINS)
• Radar System Simulator
• Power Distribution System
